The former member of the Mercedes Board of Management Wilhelm Haspel received his doctorate in mechanical engineering in 1926. From 1924, he was also an employee of Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft, where he was appointed head of the calculation department. In 1927, he was appointed head of the Daimler-Benz plant in Sindelfingen. At the end of 1935, Wilhelm Haspel was transferred to Untertürkheim. At the beginning of 1936, Haspel was appointed to the Board of Management - initially as a deputy member. Five years later, he was promoted to a full member of the Board of Management. In 1942, Wilhelm Haspel took over the position of Chairman of the Board of Management. Due to denazification proceedings, he had to relinquish the post in October 1945. Classified as exonerated in the Spruchkammer proceedings, Haspel was able to resume the position of Chairman in January 1948 and quickly rebuilt Daimler-Benz AG in the years that followed. At the age of 53, Wilhelm Haspel unfortunately died unexpectedly of a brain haemorrhage in 1952.

Mercedes board member Jürgen Schrempp

The former Chairman of the Mercedes Board of Management Jürgen Schrempp began his career at Daimler-Benz AG with an apprenticeship as a car mechanic. However, he interrupted his stay in South Africa from 1982 to 1984, as he successfully restructured Euclid Trucks - a commercial vehicle subsidiary of Mercedes - in the USA during these years. Schrempp worked his way up through several positions until he finally became Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz AG in 1995, succeeding Edzard Reuter. He brought the automotive business back to the center of the Group's focus and distanced himself from the concept of the "integrated technology group". The Mercedes CEO Schrempp also oversaw the merger of Daimler-Benz AG with the US group Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler AG. In 2005, Schrempp surprisingly stepped down from his position as Chairman of the Board of Management and Dieter Zetsche became his successor.

Immediately afterwards, he joined the international junior management group of the former Daimler-Benz AG. Ola Källenius initially dealt with controlling tasks before taking on various management positions within Daimler AG. In 2010, he became Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. In 2015, Källenius was appointed to the Board of Management of Daimler AG as a member of the Mercedes-Benz Cars Divisional Board of Management responsible for sales of the Mercedes-Benz and Smart passenger car brands.
